Changing out distributors from points to electronic ignition?

we are building a 1965 chevy pickup. we would like to know how much trouble we will run into with wiring and changing over everything if we change from points to electronic ignitionChanging out distributors from points to electronic ignition?
Are you planning on changing the entire ignition system?

I have an alternative for you that actually closely fits the time period of that truck.

It's a set of directions on how to build a capacitive discharge system (aka CDI). It uses the original points as the trigger, but eliminates all the problems associated with points-type ignition systems. It also allows you to run the original points system with the flick of a switch.

It was originally printed in Popular Mechanics or Popular Science, I forget which. (way back when they were actually interesting magazines)

your easiest swap is a PerTronix Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit. you get to keep your stock distributor, and Best of all you will not have to do anything more other than follow the instructions and 30 minutes later and you're done! I suggest also getting a slightly hotter coil, and 8mm plug wires to get the full advantages!

...Once you set your timing you'll probly not have to bother with your Ignition other than to change plugs for a LONG time!!

...you can get all you need from the link below..... good luck!
